Thanks to a smart, all-around lacing system, FUNKENFEUER adapts to the body and fits comfortably without restricting freedom of movement. The apron is adjustable and fits sizes from S to XXL.

On the right side is a practical pocket with room for a mobile phone or a wireless grill thermometer, for example. On the left side are two leather loops where you can easily hang a towel, grilling utensils, or other accessories you want to keep close at hand.

Tested heat protection – even for welding work

Alpenleder FUNKENFEUER is tested according to ISO 11612 by the manufacturer and classified as personal protective equipment (PPE). The standard covers protective clothing against heat and flame.

This means that the apron is not only intended for grilling but can also be used for other work where protection against heat and sparks is needed, such as certain welding tasks and metalwork, provided that the level of protection is suitable for the work.

The heavy leather also provides robust protection against splashes and everyday wear and tear.

Vegetable-tanned full-grain buffalo leather with a unique patina

FUNKENFEUER is made from approximately 1.4–1.8 mm thick full-grain buffalo leather, vegetable-tanned without chrome or heavy metals.

After tanning, the leather is treated with oil and hand-polished with a hard wax. The treatment creates a beautiful two-tone effect that highlights the leather's natural texture and gives the apron its characteristic vintage look.

Each apron develops its own color variations and nuances. Over time, the leather develops a personal patina that makes it even more beautiful.

Traditional craftsmanship and responsible manufacturing

Alpenleder uses heavy saddlery leather and traditional manufacturing methods. The leather pieces are cut by hand using templates instead of lasers and then sewn together by hand.

The metal components are nickel-free, and the materials comply with EU REACH requirements.

Alpenleder's manufacturing partners are also certified according to SA8000, an international standard for social responsibility and good working conditions.
