Leather Colorant | Furniture Clinic Leather Repair Paint | 100 ml

Furniture Clinic Leather Repair Paint is a water-based polyurethane leather colourant suitable for coloring all types of leather. The dye has a unique flexibility and resistance to scratches and marks. Once applied and dried, the leather appears and feels like new, with a permanent coloration that will never peel or fade. There is a wide range of base colors to choose from, and the dyes can be mixed to achieve an unlimited number of shades.

Repair Paint includes a finish that eliminates the need for an additional topcoat (unlike Furniture Clinic's Leather Colourant). This makes it ideal for quickly touching up small areas or coloring minor damage. Its formula is designed to seal itself as it dries, removing the need for a leather finish over the color.

Repair Paint provides a satin finish, which is between matte and glossy. If a more matte or glossy finish is desired, a thin layer of matte or gloss leather finish can be applied to adjust the shine.

Furniture Clinic Leather Repair Paint is excellent for coloring car upholstery, leather furniture, leather handbags, leather jackets, shoes, equestrian equipment, motorcycle gear, and more—essentially anything made from leather, except for suede and nubuck. It can also be used on faux leather and bi-cast leather, provided you first apply a primer, Adhesion Promoter.

100 ml covers approximately 2 square meter.

The leather colourant is suitable for:

• Covering small scratches and minor damage on leather and skin
• Coloring leather after a leather repair

Instructions:

1. First, clean the leather thoroughly with Ultra Clean Leather Cleaner.
2. If the leather is coated or pigmented, i.e., leather with a surface finish, remove as much of this as possible with Leather Prep (Note: Do not use Leather Prep on aniline, semi-aniline, or other absorbent leathers that lack a surface finish).
3. Next, wipe the leather with Alcohol Cleaner to remove any loose dye residues, old grease, and wax. This allows the new leather dye to penetrate and adhere properly, providing a solid foundation. Removing all grease and wax is crucial as they prevent proper adhesion.
4. Apply the first layer of leather colourant with a sponge. Allow it to dry thoroughly before applying additional layers. Use a hairdryer for quicker drying. For a smoother surface, the leather dye can be sprayed on with an airbrush or other spray equipment (though this is not necessary; multiple sponge applications can achieve the same result). Apply the dye in thin layers until coverage is complete and satisfactory. Ensure that each layer is completely dry before applying the next. The dye is flexible and will not crack regardless of the number of layers applied. Note that the color will be a shade darker once it dries.
5. The leather dye has a satin finish, which is between matte and glossy. For a more matte or glossy finish, a layer of leather finish (choose from Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Semi-Matte, and Matte) can be applied. Besides adjusting the shine, the finish adds extra durability to the leather.

Keep in mind that a monitor does not always perfectly render color shades; the color may appear different in reality.
